Oregon Coast Engagement Photos // Lisa & Ethan
I'm so excited to share Lisa and Ethan's Oregon Coast engagement photos with you. As one of my 2023 wedding couples, I cherished this time getting to know them and their love story more intimately! If you've come across this blog, feel free to use these photos as inspiration for your own Oregon Coast engagement photos, and there will be a way to contact me to document them at the end of this article.
Lisa and Ethan's Oregon Coast engagement photos
Witnessing Lisa & Ethan's pure, deep, and fun-loving relationship was my favorite part of my time with them. It's very important to me that I get to know my couples in a more intimate way than most, as it makes documenting their love story all the more authentic. So I was thrilled when they inquired with me about photographing their Griffin House wedding (set to take place in May 2023) with none other than my best friend, Megan of Curated Mess Co.! She is the most talented wedding styler & coordinator, and we always have the best time working side by side. So if you inquire with me about your wedding or elopement, she will always be on my list of recommended Oregon vendors.
Okay, getting back on track. Lisa and Ethan decided to tie the knot here in Oregon, despite never having been before. So, they traveled here all the way from Ohio to take their Oregon Coast engagement photos and explore the Columbia River Gorge. Their venue, The Griffin House, is one of my favorite wedding venues in The Gorge! You can check out a recent wedding I shot here on the blog. This was a perfect dual-purpose trip for Lisa and Ethan, and it was their first PNW trip at that.
They left it up to me to suggest where they should have their engagement session, so I immediately got to planning. I knew I wanted to take them somewhere equally as stunning as their wedding venue but in a diverse location so they could have variety in their photos. Coincidentally, they mentioned that they saw the beauty of the Oregon Coast on my Instagram profile, with its large rock formations and vast fields. They were right in observing that there are a lot of different sceneries on the Oregon Coast, which would give them the desired variety I mentioned earlier! So, with that in mind, I curated a list of my favorite Oregon Coast locations, and they chose Hug Point!
How to prepare for an Oregon Coast engagement session
You're not alone if you're nervous about planning your engagement session. It can be nerve-wracking getting in front of the camera, but that will quickly change once we get into it! In fact, after getting to know Lisa and Ethan in person, I loved seeing them open up and become so comfortable in front of my camera. It will feel like we're just friends hanging out! Aside from that, here are a few things you can do to prepare for your Oregon Coast engagement photos:
What to wear for your Oregon Coast engagement photos
When choosing your outfits, aim for earth tones, subtle colors, and lots of texture. Because we'll be on the coast, it might get a little cool and windy! Choose some layers to keep you warm and add depth to your look. Include everyday accessories like beanies, flat-brim hats, rings, watches, etc. These items will make your engagement photos much more personal to you.
When to schedule your Oregon Coast engagement session
Let me fill you in if you're not familiar with the notorious PNW rain! The stereotype is true: especially in Oregon, it kind of does rain all the time. We have beautiful pockets of sunshine during certain seasons, but we're always prepared for a change of weather at any time. As your photographer, rain does not deter me a single bit! I talk more about this in my How to Choose an Oregon Wedding Photographer blog, which I highly recommend checking out.
If you want to layer up and get cozy, and/or you want that classic PNW mood, schedule your engagement session for the fall. This is one of my favorite seasons for Oregon Coast engagement photos! If you want sunny, slightly warmer weather, aim for summer or spring. The climate can get tricky in winter, but I'm always up for a snowy engagement session adventure.
If you want more engagement session tips, I have an entire blog post dedicated to them! You can check it out here.
