Abby & Abby's Wedding at The Griffin House
Abby & Abby’s wedding at The Griffin House turned out to be one of my favorites! Not only was it so visually beautiful, but the love surrounding the day from each family member and friend of Abby and Abby’s made it. Although it rained pretty hard on their big day, nothing could put a damper on the love that shone through. The Griffin House is also one of my favorite wedding venues in Oregon, so it’s always such a joy being back here. Without further ado, let me tell you all about their day!
A Wedding at The Griffin House in Hood River, OR
One of the sweetest things about this day was what their entire family flew all the way across the country to be present for their wedding at The Griffin House. Abby & Abby are originally from Florida, so both of their families traveled to the PNW, where A & A knew they wanted their dream wedding. It ended up being like a mini vacation for everyone, which gave such a fun and relaxed feel to their day. It was really special for a wedding to happen on a fun trip for everyone!
I’m so happy they chose Oregon, because that meant celebrating at one of my all time favorite places. I love traveling all over for weddings & elopements, but there’s something about the PNW that will forever hold a special place in my heart. And when couples choose this beautiful location to get married, I can’t help but get so excited!
A rainy day in the PNW
In typical Oregon fashion, there was a pretty intense downpour on their wedding day. Because it rains here so often, it’s important to hire a photographer who has experience shooting in this type of weather. In fact, I cover this exact topic in my blog ‘How to Choose an Oregon Wedding Photographer,’ just in case you needed some guidance if you’re on the hunt for one. Thankfully, Abby & Abby were totally prepared for the inclement weather. They ended up renting clear umbrellas for everyone, and it actually made for some pretty unique ceremony photos!
I’m actually getting a little ahead of myself… let’s back up a bit. Before their ceremony, they both did the sweetest first looks with their dads! I love first looks, no matter if it’s with your parent, your partner, or your wedding party. There’s nothing quite like capturing the way someone looks when they see you in your wedding attire for the first time. And the the fact that both Abbys got to experience this with their dads made the moments just so special!
Fun fact: the running joke of their wedding day was “Abby squared,'“ since both their names are obviously Abby. How cute is that? There were so many elements to this day that made it feel so fun and intimate :’)
The Griffin House wedding venue
Like I said before, The Griffin House is one of my all-time favorite wedding venues in Oregon. I love shooting here because they truly have everything you could need on your wedding day. Situated in Hood River, OR you have beautiful scenery, two spacious getting ready suites for both parties, a reception tent, and tons of spots for outdoor portraits! Plus, the location (Columbia River Gorge) is seriously one that you can’t go wrong with. I’ve shot multiple weddings here now, and every time I’m amazed at how beautiful and personalized each event can get with the right vendor team. If you’re interested in checking them out for your Oregon wedding, you can contact them here!
Sweet Words from Abby & Abby:
“Sarah’s photography is as beautiful as she is, inside & out! Working with her was a dream come true & we couldn’t ask for a better experience or better photos. She captured every single moment we asked for and more! We just cannot express how amazing our experience was but the photos speak for themselves. She captures memories that last a lifetime and makes everything look as magical as they felt in real life. You can see her love and passion for photography in every shot.
We found Sarah through instagram & fell in love with her style. Once we got on a video call with her, we knew she was who we wanted to work with for our wedding! Sarah’s gentle and kind demeanor makes you feel like an old friend. She makes you feel so comfortable which makes for fun times & genuine candid photos. Sarah’s boyfriend Dakota, who is typically her second shooter, is just as sweet and talented! He was fun to work with and helped gather all of our guests for group photos and get different angles of special shots. They make a great team!
If we had to do it all over again, we would choose Sarah Olivia every time. We can’t say enough about her but we can say with the utmost confidence that working with her will be the best decision you make for your wedding. Nothing but love for her”
