The Lords Mansion in Olympia, Washington Wedding

It was the day after Friday the 13th (which is a whole other story in itself) where Dakota and I had spent time in Seattle, then headed down to Olympia, WA on the 14th of December to shoot my last wedding of 2019. Being a sentimental person on a regular basis, I was exceptionally sentimental on this day in particular. Not just because of the significant date for myself, but Chris and Alyssa were one of the kindest couples I had the privilege to meet, and their day was a reminder to me why weddings are so special. When you treasure your family and friends so much that you throw a celebration for you and them.

It actually goes all the way back to their engagement shoot in September…my busiest month of the entire year. I had a shoot every day, and when I wasn’t shooting I was editing in the hopes that I’d be caught up when I left for travels in October (hah that didn’t happen.) But the point in saying all this was that I had found out at the last minute I needed to get a procedure done that month, and the only available date was to have it done on the day we had scheduled Chris and Alyssa’s engagement shoot. It’s pretty much unheard of that I’d reschedule a shoot unless their was a blizzard or something, so to ask for them to reschedule to a different date in September was nerve racking, but of course they were so gracious and understanding.

I could go on, but let’s get into the wedding details. A handmade cake from grandma, chocolate bars with their last name on them, a mansion in the most Christmasy town I’ve ever seen (seriously some hallmark stuff) and an incredibly uplifting day.

A FIRST LOOK ON THE BOAT DOCS IN OLYMPIA

While Dakota and I waited for the first look to begin, we actually ran into the farmers market and bought some food truck curry - which warmed us up on this extremely cold December day in Olympia. While we ate and waited, we watched “pokemon go” players pile up on the sidewalks and it was pretty dang funny.
