Mikalah and Bank’s wedding at The Ruins at the Astor was an absolute honor to be a part of. The historic venue set the stage with its Gothic-inspired architecture and vintage ambiance, and they truly embraced the moody October season while being nestled on the coast of Oregon this rainy day. Mikalah and Banks leaned into a candlelit aesthetic, creating an atmosphere that felt both cozy and cinematic. Cascading greenery and deep burgundy florals by Noble Floral Co. and stunning design by Bixby & Pine, truly transformed everything into a dream. Mikalah and Banks added so many personal touches as well, like cookies that looked like their beloved cats (as a cat person, I whole heartedly love this), a newspaper announcement of their ceremony, and even a typewriter poet to make personalized poetry for all the guests during reception!

I’ve been all over Oregon, photographing in lots of beautiful venues, and The Ruins takes the (wedding) cake for most unique, and is such a magical setting for a wedding. Capturing Mikalah and Bank’s day there felt like stepping into an old-world romance. Every moment—whether it was their heartfelt ceremony, private vows in the attic of the venue, or the warm glow of candlelight during dinner—was infused with a timeless elegance.
