Ashton & Nayan’s Borgo Stomennano Wedding in Tuscany, Italy

When I first heard from Ashton and Nayan, it was to plan their engagement photos in Edinburgh, Scotland. After that, I just knew they were so full of life and whimsy, so when they mentioned their wedding was planned for Tuscany, Italy the following year, I had a hunch it would be a dream to photograph. I’ll always remember their wedding weekend - full of romance and florals covering the villa. The very first night, we walked to a local restaurant along with the wedding party, sipping wine and ordering various pasta dishes. The next day, some guests started their morning in the pool, some slept in and the rest of us started getting ready for the festivities. I started photographing their details near windows within the villa, tuscan light shining through. Once Ashton was dressed, we coordinated a first look, and from that point on, Ashton and Nayan were inseparable.

It was magical capturing candids of them throughout the day, as well as putting together some group photos of their wedding party along the steps, and next to the ceremony space, where the string quartet was setting up.

The day went by with aperols, many horderves and onto multiple courses once the sitdown dinner started. Underneath the glowing lights, guests sat and enjoyed the meal while the sun slowly set.

Their dance party ended the night, and might've been my favorite portion of the day. Ashton and Nayan had the option of setting up the dance floor outside, like normal for Borgo Stomennano, but they actually opted for the rain backup plan - the wine cellar. The result felt like an underground club, with some guests spilling out for cigarettes or more tiramisu, while the light and music flooded out of the door.

What Is Borgo Stomennano?

Today, Borgo Stomennano is a wedding venue in the heart of Tuscany. Stomennano is a small hilltop village built on ancient Etruscan and Roman ruins, with a history that stretches back centuries. Once a stop along the Via Francigena pilgrimage route between Paris and Rome, it has long been a place where people passed through, gathered, and connected.

Where Is Borgo Stomennano Located?

I found it very easy to get to Borgo Stomennano, as I flew into Florence and hired a car. Driving through Tuscany was incredible as well, and after the wedding weekend I went through Siena since it was so close by. Here’s a guide to how far it is from the cities:

Parking: Onsite parking is available, but I’d suggest hiring a shuttle for guests

Getting Ready Spaces: The main house has multiple rooms, making it easy for privacy between wedding parties if needed.

Catering & Beverages: Borgo Stomennano have their “favorite” vendors they love to work with, but are also open to collaborating with your first choice in vendors. Borgo Stomennano does offer breakfast themselves and a few other perks like welcome cocktails.
