Moshulu & Union Trust, Philadelphia Wedding Weekend
Kayla & Rahmi’s Wedding Weekend in Philadelphia
This wedding weekend in Philadelphia was highly anticipated, originally supposed to occur the year prior. However, when Kayla and Rahmi found out they were expecting, they decided to postpone their date. Which personally I think was such a special choice, because their daughter got to be a part of their day. Getting ready with her mom, wearing the same little white dress Kayla wore as a baby. Curiously pointing to the charm attached to Kayla’s bouquet, knowing it was a photo of her grandpa, by Kayla’s side throughout.
The weekend included so many personal touches of DIY’d decor (like the seating chart) welcome cards at the hotel for guests, and so much more. The space at Union Trust was filled with so much warmth, I could tell there was so much care by Kayla put into absolutely everything.
One unique note I have to add is we did not do scheduled bride and groom portraits on their wedding day at Union Trust. Instead, we planned those for two days after the event, at Philadelphia’s Rodin Museum. This allowed their day to feel so relaxed and in the moment, with no worries about when to sneak away for portraits. Then, when it did come time to take their officially married photographs, we had all the time in the world to be creative. At the end of this blog, I have added a few of the portraits at the Museum. But first, a bit about the kickoff to the weekend:
What Is Moshulu?
Starting on the Deck of Moshulu in Philadelphia, the welcome party kicked off the weekends events. Guests headed out to Penn's Landing, where Moshulu is permanently docked. The four-masted tall ship primarily operates as a restaurant, but also books events like weddings. Or in this case, an evening welcome party the night before the main event. It was perfect to set the tone - the cityscape on one side of the deck, with the water on the other. It was so romantic and sophisticated with the bar serving delicious cocktails through the evening, and some toasts to the engaged couple.

There was such a buzz of energy on Kayla and Rahmi’s wedding day. The wedding party members were getting hair and makeup done, or on Rahmi’s side, at the hotel bar sipping espresso martinis. Once ready, each party took a hired trolley to Union Trust, which is a historic building in downtown Philly. Transformed from a bank, now hosting big galas and weddings in the historic district. I absolutely loved the multi storied venue. It created such amazing flow to Kayla and Rahmi’s wedding timeline…the ceremony downstairs, with a dramatic entrance from Kayla down the steps, then guests heading up the mezzanine for cocktail hour while the space was flipped to a gorgeous reception Food from Finley Catering was some of the best I’ve had at a wedding, and it flowed all evening long from appetizers to main courses.
